Under the
Southern Cross,
New Zealand has stunning scenery,
volcanoes, mountains, caves and prehistoric biology, fascinating to nature photographers.
Each year, Schering NZ gives a calendar to their
customers. The photographs are often the work of the author. Some calendar pictures, of natural places in New Zealand, have
been considerably enlarged and donated by Schering to the Xray department, Green Lane
Hospital, Auckland, NZ. They are on public display in the patient's waiting room.
The 1998 images, shown here, originated as 6x6cm transparencies on Fuji Velvia film (ISO
50).
The calendar printing file
was 21 to 26 Megabytes at 300dpi, but for this site, the files have been compressed to 80K
or less. The images (which show up when the links are pressed) are 420 pixels high; to
suit small computer screens.
This size is good for desktop pictures on SVGA screens, as the margin can be used to store
icons. However, Mt Talbot is bigger at 800x600 pixels, which will fill an
SVGA screen.
